Tax-exempt Status of Churches and the Gay Marriage Decision
by lambsbottom init will be interesting to see what will happen with the "beloved" 501c3 tax exempt status which the churches hold so dearly onto.
the first-century christians met in homes.
they did not have exemption from taxes to the governments.

I don't think it is do much of the marriage itself, for them to perform the marriage would never happen. It's more of the civil rights implications that has everyone in an uproar. There is going to a lot of legal implications from this that have nothing to do with the actual wedding ceremony. -

Or for instance a legally married gay couple being told they can't get baptized because they are gay? Won't that be a problem? -

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of their DF policy. If sex outside of marriage is a DF offense, how will they get around it if two gay people are legally married? Will they still attempt to DF for homosexuality? Will that be a civil rights issue then? -

WT October 15, 2015 - Don't believe Apostate Lies
by Designer Stubble inthe last article in this new wt, shows me that the organization is dealing with much information that is damaging them.
i am sure that the many recent lawsuits are being noticed by the r&f.. here are some gems from that article, titled the naive person believes every word.
we must be very selective about what we consider worthy of our attention.

Yes - I had the blood card back in the day, but didn't share that with him. It's funny though how when they think you are just another worldly person they will tell you that it's all lies. He gave me the song and dance about the things they do accept and how doctors say those are better than blood. -

Single Sisters

they tend to be holier-than-thou, frumpty, but in private talk about getting married.
but they don't understand why no brother will look at them.

Faye - I couldn't agree more. I was so shallow back when I was a JW. Always worried about looking better than everyone else. Being young, thin, and pretty was your ticket to getting invited to the parties or getting asked to join quick build crews, or even to work at bethel. It also helped to get the attention of the "normal" brothers you wanted to date.
Then all the nutty church lady types would get mad at you when brothers invited you places or came to your hall to visit you.

How do you manage to keep JW friendships after you left the organization?
by Bonsai init seems incredibly difficult.
those who leave the org.
(or fade) no longer have anything in common with jehovah's witnesses, nor do they want to stick around to get radiated by the fear and guilt that saturates every aspect of a witnesses' life.. i've lost all but one of my jw friends quite simply because i can no longer condone the evil things that they condone.

You don't. I moved away didn't give any of them my forwarding address and told my family to not give it out to anyone. I don't need any of that kind of crazy in my life. -

Why must sisters wear skirts?
by purrpurr inand or dresses?
just what is wrong with a smart pair of trousers?
i'm sure that the women would not start behaving like men or imagining that they have a dick!.

The last memorial I went to in 2001 I wore a pant suit just for fun. Some were nice and others looked at me with disgust. It made me giggle a little to go in pants. -

I was told yesterday by an elder who came to my door (I didn't tell him of my background), that they don't let their members die because of the blood issue, it's just a falsehood propogated by internet sources. I said "you and I both know that's not true." That was the end of the conversation. -

Article in Australian newspaper regarding jw shunning and charity
by umbertoecho inthis may have been posted before.
however, if you want to read the article about jw shunning and denial of this practice, then have a read.
there is mention of redefining "charity" in terms of how that operates.. http://www.smh.com.au/national/jehovahs-witnesses-a-cruel-cult-20130315-2g5x3.html.

Someone should send him the video from the assembly about the parents shunning their daughter. Oh shunning is a myth, but these people are held up as examples of how to treat your children that try to leave the cult.
